Mental Health Awareness Month: Join Us for the Wellness Fair
May is recognized as Mental Health Awareness Month, a time dedicated to highlighting the importance of mental well-being. At Safe Harbor Coronado, we believe in promoting wellness year-round, and this month, we invite our cherished community to join us for a special event. Mark your calendars for our second annual Mental Health & Wellness Fair on May 22, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Spreckels Center.
A Diverse Range of Wellness Opportunities
Wellness can be pursued through a variety of methods, and our community is uniting to offer you an afternoon filled with support and fun. Our Mental Health & Wellness Fair will feature an array of health and wellness opportunities suitable for all ages. Engage with resources provided by Sharp Hospital and our other esteemed partners, ensuring there’s something for everyone.
Interactive Activities and Resource Tables
This year’s fair promises over fourteen resource tables and several engaging activities that cater to all age groups. Explore what promotes well-being for you and your family members. From interactive wellness activities to static informational booths, the event aims to provide you with the tools needed to feel your absolute best.
Introducing Worry Worms
We are excited to introduce our Worry Worms, lovingly handcrafted by local artisans. These delightful handheld squishies are designed to provide calm and comfort. Be sure to choose yours at the wellness fair while supplies last. Special thanks to our dedicated staff crocheter, Michael Tanori, along with Donna Young, Ann de La Torre, Jauhree Walker, and Mary, for their time and talent in creating these soothing items for our community.
Engaging Activities for Adults and Youth
Adult bingo kicks off at 2:30 p.m., and guests are encouraged to relax afterward while meeting talented artists. Engage with Emma Olson, an intern at Safe Harbor Coronado and a CoSA visual artist, as well as Chona Doering, a local oil painter. Sharp Hospital will be present to share insights on available wellness resources. Get active with engaging activities, such as lawn bowling or a pitching competition!
Educational Seminars and Youth Activities
Participate in educational seminars focused on healthy mealtimes, led by Andrea Zimmer Geraldi, and discover how the power of the mind can transform your life with tips from Jean Pierre Marques. Additionally, our Safe Harbor Coronado interns from Coronado High School will facilitate interactive youth wellness activities aimed at helping participants calm, cope, and connect. The Coronado Library and the City of Coronado Recreation will also host inspiring activity tables to enhance the experience.
